Lathrop: One of the Top Financially Healthy Cities in California

Here is some good news—Lathrop ranked 13 for the most fiscally healthy cities in California! The California State Auditor’s Office surveyed 423 cities using data from the 2019-20 financial year. The Manteca Bulletin reported the near top-10 placement was largely in part to its residential, commercial, and industrial growth. Because of this, the city was able to build a healthy reserve while maintaining essential city services.

Of course, this recognition would not be possible without the residents’ significant contributions. Nearly a decade ago, residents approved a one-cent sales tax increase, Measure C, which allowed Lathrop to fund public safety and government positions. This measure continued to grow along with the city which generated additional revenue.

Susan Dell’Osso made a statement, “This is such positive recognition for the City, and a testament to the outstanding work of City Manager Steve Salvatore and the supportive and cohesive City Council led by Mayor Sonny Dhaliwahl.”

We could not be more proud to live in such a fantastic city and community. To learn more about life at River Islands, visit RiverIslands.com.
