STAY SAFE!

River Islands has launched the RD 2062’s new “Catch and Release” fishing program, that will allow fishing at most of the lakes within the community. That means that fish cannot be taken from the lakes.

Each person fishing MUST have a valid, current City of Lathrop Fishing Permit with them at all times.

Signs will be posted in designated areas summarizing the rules for participants (see sign sample). “No Fishing” signs will be posted in areas where fishing is not allowed (primarily at lakes that are surrounded by homes, like 360 Lakeside).

Only residents of River Islands and the City of Lathrop may apply for a Fishing Permit. This can be obtained at the River Islands Welcome Center during normal business hours. Applicants must bring proof of residency and agree to have their picture taken for the Fishing Permit. Permit holders will be given a map of all of the fishing areas within River Islands. (See map)

There will be No Charge for the residents of River Islands, as they already pay for lake maintenance through their taxes. The cost of the annual permit is $25 for residents of the City of Lathrop outside of River Islands.

Security at River Islands will check for the City of Lathrop fishing permits and will enforce the fishing rules. (See program rules)

RIVER ACTIVITIES

Just across the San Joaquin River is Mossdale Crossing Regional Park, open daily from sunrise to sunset.  The park has a two-lane boat ramp and floating dock, to launch boats out into the hundreds of miles of Delta waterways. Picnic and barbeque areas at the park make this a perfect spot for a waterside getaway.
