RIVER ISLANDS FISHING PROGRAM
FISHING PERMITS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE WELCOME CENTER.
TUESDAY - SATURDAY
12 am - 5 pm
River Islands has launched the RD 2062’s new “Catch and Release” fishing program, that will allow fishing at most of the lakes within the community. That means that fish cannot be taken from the lakes.
Each person fishing MUST have a valid, current City of Lathrop Fishing Permit with them at all times.
Signs will be posted in designated areas summarizing the rules for participants (see sign sample). “No Fishing” signs will be posted in areas where fishing is not allowed (primarily at lakes that are surrounded by homes, like 360 Lakeside).
Only residents of River Islands and the City of Lathrop may apply for a Fishing Permit. This can be obtained at the River Islands Welcome Center during normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday. Applicants must bring proof of residency and agree to have their picture taken for the Fishing Permit. Permit holders will be given a map of all of the fishing areas within River Islands. (See map)
There will be No Charge for the residents of River Islands, as they already pay for lake maintenance through their taxes. The cost of the annual permit is $25 for residents of the City of Lathrop outside of River Islands.
Security at River Islands will check for the City of Lathrop fishing permits and will enforce the fishing rules. (See program rules)

PARKS AND RECREATION
Just across the San Joaquin River is Mossdale Crossing Regional Park, open daily from sunrise to sunset. The park has a two-lane boat ramp and floating dock, to launch boats out into the hundreds of miles of Delta waterways. Picnic and barbeque areas at the park make this a perfect spot for a waterside getaway.

DELL'OSSO FAMILY FARM EVENTS
Next door to River Islands is a very friendly neighbor, Dell’Osso Family Farm. The farm is the home of two seasonal events, the Pumpkin Maze in October and Holidays on the Farm in December. In other months, the Farm hosts other family-friendly events.
CLOSED FOR THE 2020 SEASON
The Boathouse at River Islands is the home to the Boat Shack that opens in early spring and offers rentals of kayaks, pedal kayaks, sunfish and stand-up paddle boards to take out on the lake adjacent to the Boathouse and Sunset Point Park.
At this time, planned dates for the boat rental program allow for weekend rentals from early spring through Labor Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, boat rentals will be available on select weekdays as well. Hours of operation are noon till dusk. Remember, swimming is not allowed in the lakes at River Islands, and no lifeguard will be available.
The parks within River Islands are open from sunrise to sunset and are first come, first serve!
Let’s get the kids off of the streets!
There have been a number of sightings of teenagers riding in our open spaces and on the streets in ATVs and dirt bikes. Not only is this illegal, it's SO DANGEROUS! These kids are not of driving age, and have no concept of other vehicles who have the right-of-way. And they are not even wearing helmets! Please, if your kids are taking to the streets in vehicles meant for off-roading, remind them that this is truly a matter of
life and death, and needs to stop immediately!
We also hear that very young kids—6 to 8—are setting up skateboard ramps in the alleys behind the homes on Lakeside Drive, or driving Big Wheels in the alleys. They can’t be seen by anyone at the driver’s seat level, making this a serious accident just waiting to happen!
Please—let’s work together to keep our kids safe!
