EXCITING COMMUNITY EVENTS!
Find details of events below!
Beginning December 1st, the Giving Tree will be up and full of wishes from children in need within the greater Lathrop community!
Fulfill a child’s wish list this season by picking an ornament from the Giving Tree located at the River Islands Executive Office (73 W. Stewart Road) and shopping for that child. Then bring the wrapped gifts back to the tree before December 20th so the gifts can be delivered by Santa, Mrs. Claus and the Lathrop-Manteca Fire Department!
The Executive Office is open Monday – Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
Together, we can make sure these local children have a very merry Christmas!
Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
When: December 8th
Time: 4:30 pm
Location: Michael Vega Park
Come to Michael Vega Park next to The Boathouse to hang a family ornament on the tree, then enjoy hot chocolate and individually-wrapped cookies. There will even be a photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus!
Lights go on at 5:30 pm.
See you there!
Holiday Drive-by Light Parade
It's a festive way for us all to dress up our cars for the holidays and drive around our community to look at the Holiday Lights as we follow a fire truck with Santa on board! Grab the kids, turn up your favorite holiday tunes and enjoy an evening out in our beautiful community!
When: December 12th
Time: Meet at the Welcome Center at 6 pm and the parade will start as soon as Santa gives the signal!
"Light Up the Islands"
Holiday Lights Contest
It’s so amazing to see how our community shows off our holiday spirit – with many neighbors going all out and decorating with stunning light displays. If this describes your home: first of all, THANK YOU and secondly, please enter your home in the “Light Up the Islands” house lighting contest here!
You can win one of three grand prizes and be featured in the River Islands community newsletter.
The only way neighbors can vote your home as having the best and brightest display is if you register your address!
Voting will begin on December 15th and ends the evening of December 22nd.
Please join us to support Second Harvest
Food Bank of San Joaquin County!
In an effort to make sure people in our greater community do not go without a meal this
holiday season, we've partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin County and added donation bins around River Islands where you can contribute unopened and unexpired non-perishable foods:
River Islands Executive Office
73 W. Stewart Rd.
1401 River Islands Pkwy.
Lathrop-Manteca Fire Station #35
19001 Somerston Pkwy.
We know our Islanders care not only during the holiday season, so these bins will remain in place
365 days a year for those in the spirit of giving all year around!
